There are some extremely schadenfreude-worthy reviews of Grendel in the LA Times. These are by members of the public. We don't have that facility in Chicago though the LA Times is owned by the Tribune....would be an amusing innovation! For the record Mark Swed's review is less uncomplimentary.
A cold and damp weekend here in Chicago while all my family in the UK have been basking in the weather we should have been having. And getting wound up by the World Cup.
We start another week of off-season with more fundraising, finance committees and other preparation for our next Board meeting. This is all very necessary work and I am glad to have some time now to get back into this. But the highlight of the week to come will be Barenboim at the CSO. We will be there on Tuesday evening for a last glimpse of the great man playing Mozart Piano Concertos with the CSO - this time K482 and K595
