We were on stage for the first time this afternoon and evening. This was a long hard stay for all the staff and the cast - and it was more than I could manage to stay to the end this evening. But we got through the whole of Act 1 - and this is the tricky one with a good deal of complicated movement of the set by the "supers" - in fact these are members of our company who have been understudies and chorus in Tito, and likewise understudies in Owen Wingrave and Carmen. So they have been fully occupied and have been real troupers when dealing with everything in Owen Wingrave. Hats off to them!
There are no decent pictures of today's rehearsals available. I am waiting for proper light and costumes etc which we will have on Friday when all will be revealed in glory!
The other event of the day was a full meeting of members of the Chicago Classical Music website - the first for some time and probably overdue. It's a challenge for a bunch of volunteers to keep this up to speed but in fact it has done very well with a considerable upturn since the recent revamp of its design, thanks to the excellent work of Angela Golden. She is also a fine trumpeter!
So it is a useful one stop shopping destination for visitors to Chicago who want to find out about all that is going on in the classical field. And bargains these days are always available.
