Stop Press from London
Diane Paulus, our Don Giovanni director arrives in Chicago next week after the opening of her production of Lost Highway with English National Opera at the Young Vic. You can read an excellent piece in today's The Times and link here to a Video clip of Diane in action. It may make you want to make the trip and if you are in London you can not miss this.

Thanks for the link to that article, it looks like they're having fun in rehearsals. From the article:
"Harrison Birtwistle, for instance, was thwarted in his attempts to make an opera based on Tarkovsky’s 1972 film Solaris)"
Damn! Birtwistle's style in the early 70's would have been perfect for Solaris. :-(
I want to go to the ENO/Young Vic "Punch and Judy" so bad, damn airfares and hotels and travelling 5,000 miles! Probably too much to ask for a filming of it...

Forgive my ignorance, but is this opera going to be based on the movie Lost Highway (I am not sure if the movie's story was original or itself based on a book)?
A translation of that film into an opera would be an interesting one indeed!
